Miss Empire Rose is an official preliminary for the Miss America Organization. The Miss America organization happens to be a leading profit in organizations dedicated to providing scholarship’s for women.
Katelynn competed amongst 10 other girls for the title of Miss Empire Rose. For the talent portion Katelynn showed off her passion for dancing with a clogging routine. Dancing has been an active role in her life since the age of 2. Persistence and dedication defiantly helped her on the path of becoming Miss Empire Rose. Upon winning, she received a 400 hundred dollar scholarship along with zebra print luggage and the opportunity to receive a custom made gown for her next competition.
During her term as Miss Empire Rose, Katelynn will be making appearances throughout the capital region and also helping to promote her platform of Suicide prevention and awareness. She will be coordinating a Suicide Prevention week here on campus in the next month.
Katelynn encouraged other women to get involved in this competition. She has already earned 1800 dollars in scholarships, which will help her in the fall when she plans on attending The College of St. Rose to earn her bachelor’s degree in communications.
This is her 7th pageant in 2 years; she hopes to someday reach her goal of competing in the Miss America Competition. “Miss America is my role model, my ultimate goal is to become Miss America, competing in pageants has made me a better person because I’ve gotten more involved in my community. The people I’ve met and experiences I have gained will last me a lifetime.”
Katelynn will be pushing one step closer to her dream when she competes in the Miss New York State Competition on June 16th at the St. George Theater in Staten Island.
