The FM bowling team kicked off its first season of the program in 2017 with the Raiders making their debut on January 15 at the Mohawk Valley Invitational.
This season the team consists of a co-ed roster due to not having enough students for two separate men and women’s teams. They compete together against all men’s teams.
“I feel pretty encouraged about how we’re doing right now,” said head coach Tom Rathbun.
The FM bowling team currently stands in fourth place out of six teams, but Rathbun says overall the team is doing well.
He also said that what’s helped his team is them getting lots of practice and that everyone gets along well and cares for each other.
When it comes to how the team will perform for the rest of the season, Rathbun said, “I’m hoping that we stay where we are and hopefully hang onto fourth place.” With regionals coming up, Rathbun went on to say that he hopes they go and perform there as well.
The FM bowling team will be competing at Nationals March 2-4 in Buffalo, New York.
During the offseason, Rathbun said he is hoping to more people involved in the bowling program.
“This year, we lost two players on our roster, one dropping out and the other due to grades” Rathbun said.
The team already has a head start in the recruiting process for next season, locking up two players for next year.
