The start of a new year’s calls for many changes in our campus- including the Evans Library.
The Evans library is a place that provides many services, students can borrow books, movies and equipment; and also get help with your classes.
This year the library has gone through a couple of changes, with equipment policies, resources like brand new computers, and the hours they provide service.
Mary Donohue, FM library director stated “we’ve added a lot of technology…all the computers in the first floor and second are new, they have wider screens, we have more laptops, surface tablets and Chromebooks, that we [received] through a grant for the library”
Samantha Montanez, General Studies and Resident Assistant said “well I think its [the library] is amazing.” Montanez added “I use their resources all the time – especially the writing center and the math lab.”
“We have fewer hours due to staff cuts, we looked at the numbers we assessed the impact and so we decided [this] in order to make the cuts.” Donohue stated referring to the library hours. When asked about the policy changes in borrowing materials Donohue said “what we changed is that you can take it [equipment] out for a week…if somebody consistently fails to bring back an item they could face the consequences and not be able to take equipment out for the remainder of the year”
The Evans Library is open from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m, Fridays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m, and Sundays from 4 p.m to 9 p.m.
